Keeping the rails in shape

The photographs of the Conrail Maintenance of Way equipment were taken in Charlton, MA in 1987 on the track that runs between between Boston, Massachusetts and Selkirk, New York. The ATSF MoW equipment was photographed in Yorba Linda and Anaheim California in 1993. The two BNSF Hyrail trucks were photographed in Havre, Montana in 2000 when I was riding on Amtrak's Empire Builder train.

I'm not familiar with Maintenace of Way equipment. Any help you can provide me in identifying the equipment in these photos would be great!
